This morning the LA Phil announced the Hollywood Bowl 2025 season.  

Headliners include John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, John Fogerty, Josh Groban, the Alabama Shakes and Diana Ross.   Jesus Christ Superstar starring Cynthia Erivo marks the return of a summer musical at the Bowl after a hiatus sparked by the COVID.

The Hollywood Bowl, one of the most iconic outdoor music venues in the world, is gearing up for an unforgettable 2025 season. This year’s lineup promises an incredible mix of musical genres, legendary artists, and breathtaking performances under the California night sky. Whether you’re a fan of classical symphonies, jazz, rock, or contemporary pop, there’s something for everyone at this historic venue.

Other performers include Grace Jones, Juanes, Angélique Kidjo and Yo-Yo Ma, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, The Roots, Diana Ross, Yuja Wang and more. We’ll also see plenty of conductor Gustavo Dudamel, who will be leading the LA Phil for his last year.

Opening Night with Hugh Jackman

Kicking off the season on June 7, 2025, is an exclusive evening with the multi-talented Hugh Jackman. Known for his versatility in film and theater, Jackman will perform a selection of his most memorable songs, accompanied by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA). This gala event not only marks the beginning of the season but also serves as a fundraiser, with all proceeds benefiting the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s learning and community programs.

A Roots Picnic Experience: The Class of ’95

On June 8, 2025, the Bowl will host “A Roots Picnic Experience: The Class of ’95,” celebrating the enduring impact of 1990s hip-hop. Curated by The Roots, the event features a continuous set with performances by Lil’ Kim, Method Man & Redman, DJ Quik, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and more. This concert promises a nostalgic journey through a pivotal era in music history.

Blue Note Jazz Festival

Jazz enthusiasts can look forward to the Blue Note Jazz Festival on June 14 and 15, 2025. This two-day event, a collaboration between the Hollywood Bowl and the iconic Blue Note Jazz Club, aims to bring together legendary artists and emerging talents in a celebration of jazz’s rich heritage. While the full lineup is yet to be announced, attendees can anticipate a weekend filled with exceptional performances.

July Fourth Fireworks Spectacular with Earth, Wind & Fire

The tradition of the July Fourth Fireworks Spectacular continues from July 2 to 4, 2025, featuring the legendary band Earth, Wind & Fire. Known for their dynamic blend of R&B, soul, and funk, the group will perform their classic hits, culminating each night with a dazzling fireworks display to celebrate Independence Day.

“Jesus Christ Superstar” Starring Cynthia Erivo

A highlight of the season is the staging of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s rock opera “Jesus Christ Superstar” from August 1 to 3, 2025. In a groundbreaking casting choice, Oscar-nominated actress Cynthia Erivo will take on the titular role of Jesus. Erivo, renowned for her powerful performances, previously portrayed Mary Magdalene in an all-female concept album of the musical. This production, directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Sergio Trujillo, with musical direction by Stephen Oremus, is poised to be a landmark event in the Bowl’s history.

Maestro of the Movies: Celebrating John Williams

Film music aficionados won’t want to miss “Maestro of the Movies,” a tribute to the legendary composer John Williams, on August 24, 2025. The evening will feature selections from Williams’ extensive catalog of film scores, performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Smooth Summer Jazz
