The Hollywood Bowl has officially named its stage the John Williams Stage, honoring the legendary composer and his long partnership with both the venue and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Officials unveiled the new signage during a private ceremony on Sunday, November 9, 2025. The tribute recognizes Williams’ decades-long connection to the Bowl, where his annual Maestro of the Movies concerts continue to draw large crowds.
John Towner Williams, born February 8, 1932, stands among the most celebrated composers in film history. Over a seven-decade career, he has written many of cinema’s most recognizable scores. His style blends romanticism, impressionism, and elements of atonal music with rich, complex orchestration. Best known for his collaborations with George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, Williams has earned 26 Grammy Awards, five Academy Awards, seven BAFTA Awards, three Emmy Awards, and four Golden Globe Awards. With 54 Academy Award nominations, he ranks second only to Walt Disney in Oscar history. At age 91, he also became the oldest Academy Award nominee in any category.
