Whether you are a first-time visitor or a longtime fan, these simple tips can make your evening smoother and more enjoyable.

TV Screens

A few years ago, large projection screens were installed at the Hollywood Bowl, giving audience members a clearer view of the performers no matter where they are seated. The screens enhance the experience, especially for those sitting farther back, by capturing close-up moments that might otherwise be missed. It is a thoughtful addition that helps bridge the distance in such a large outdoor venue.

Even with the screens, bringing a pair of binoculars can make a noticeable difference, particularly for classical performances or nights when you want to focus on individual musicians. If you forget to bring your own, binocular rentals are often available on the grounds. A little extra magnification can bring you closer to the stage and make the performance feel more intimate.

Children

The Hollywood Bowl welcomes guests of all ages, and there is no minimum age requirement to attend. Children ages 2 and older must have their own ticket and sit in their assigned seat, while children under 2 are admitted without a ticket. It is important to consider the nature of the performance, as many evening concerts are geared toward adult audiences and may run late.

Family-friendly events are offered throughout the season, and those performances are often the best choice for younger guests. Parents are encouraged to use their discretion and ensure that children are able to sit comfortably and quietly so as not to disrupt the experience for others. With a little planning, the Bowl can be a memorable outing for the entire family.

Trash Bags

On your way to your seats, be sure to grab a few complimentary trash bags. They are available throughout the grounds and make cleanup at the end of the night much easier. Keeping your area tidy not only helps the staff but also makes for a more pleasant experience for everyone around you.

If you are seated in the Pool Circle, Garden, or Terrace sections, staff members typically come by to collect full bags during or after the performance. If you are in other sections, simply deposit your trash in the clearly marked barrels located throughout the venue. A little effort at the end of the evening helps keep the Hollywood Bowl beautiful for the next performance.

Seat Cushions

Seat cushions are available for rent for just a few dollars and can make sitting on the wooden bench seats far more comfortable, especially during longer performances. It is a small upgrade that many regular concertgoers consider well worth it. If you plan to arrive early, rentals are typically easier to secure before the pre-concert rush.

American Express card members may be eligible for a complimentary seat cushion. To receive one, you must present a valid American Express card to the guest services representative on site. Availability can vary by performance, so it is a good idea to inquire as soon as you enter the grounds.

Chilly

No matter how warm the day may be, evenings at the Hollywood Bowl have a way of turning cool once the sun sets. The canyon breeze and drop in temperature can catch you off guard, especially during longer performances. Bringing a light jacket or sweater is always a smart move and can make the difference between a comfortable evening and counting the minutes until the encore.

Busses

If you take one of the Bowl buses, be sure to listen carefully to your driver before departure. Each bus is assigned a specific number and pickup location, such as LA Zoo or another designated lot. Before you head into the concert, the driver will explain exactly where to meet after the show.

Paying attention to those details will save you time and confusion when thousands of guests are exiting at once. At the end of the night, simply return to your assigned pickup area, and your ride home will be smooth and stress free.
