Section E and the Obstructed View

One of the most often asked question I receive is “My seat is in section E and my ticket says obstructed view.  Will I be able to see the stage?”.  Other than the few seats that have an obstructed view, section E at the Hollywood Bowl is a very nice lower cost alternative to box seats.  They are as close as the Terrace Boxes… just more stage left.  They are bench seats but still very close to the main stage. They are also close to the restrooms and concessions.

Certain seats in section E are however obstructed by the green structure that houses speakers, spot lights and the like.  The closer you sit to the front and left in section E the worst the obstructed view is.

The honor of worst obstructed view in section E is awarded to row 1 seat 39 (not sure why the Hollywood Bowl map shows seat 35 as the end seat).  I am a bit cautious to comment on wether or not this seat/view is acceptable.  I think it is a personal choice.  If you were to ask me I would consider sitting there depending on the performance… especially if the ticket price was discounted.  Here is a photo of the view in section E row 1 seat 39.

This video clip is from section E row 1.  It starts on the most left (seat 39) and moves across the row to seat 25.  Keep in mind the seat numbers are odd only in this section (39, 37, 35, etc.)

Alex here is the view from Section E Row 5 Seat 47. The stage starts where the netting is. Seat 47 is also on the aisle. Hope this helps.

hello, i have tix for barbra nov 11, sec d, row 1, seats 42, and 34. i was told they were about 5 seats from the (L) and i would be able to easily exit as I have a hip/back disability and have to get up and stand at times. is the information correct? also that there was no obstruction whatsoever. thanks so much. i am so looking forward to going.

Sean I believe you meant to say seats 32 and 34. If not just let me know. The last seat in Section D Row 1 is 40 and seats are all even numbers so they go 32, 34, 36, 38 and 40 (aisle). Here is the view from your seats. Enjoy the show.

Was wondering if Promenade D Row 15 will have obstructed views. I know that some rows are better than others… but I don’t want to pay a butt load for Mumford and Sons tickets not to be able to see them.
    Thanks

Andrea you don’t mention which seat numbers you have but Row 15 in Section D is pretty far back and pretty safe from obstructions. Here is a view from Section D Row 15 Seats 42 which is further to the right. You can see that there is minimal obstruction of the stage. Hope this helps.

I’m just wondering what would be better tickets.

    Sec D, Row 10, seat 38 vs. SEC T1, row 3 seat 34

    Thanks.

James Section D is way closer to the stage Than Section T1. If you can get seats that are not obstructed, which your seat is not, Section D is a great section to be in. Here is a photo from one row back (Row 11, seat 38). The white screen and small stage in front will not be up for your concert. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much sir. Unfortunately, there are only obstructed seats left.

        • James says:

Oops, like you said, they’re not obstructed.

Last question: Would you prefer to sit on Row 11 Seats 39 of Section E or the one in Section D that I mentioned? I see the picture you posted for Ty, but if you were to compare the two?

          • admin says:

Hard call James. I might give a slight edge to the Section E seats only because they are closer to the bathrooms and concessions. But either look OK.

just purchased tickets in Sec. F3, Seats 30 & 32 and tickets say “obstructed view.” How bad is it?

Thanks so much for your info, now I feel much better!!! This is the best website!!!!

  8. Ty says:

I really would like to go to the Brad Paisley concert in October, and it seems that the only decently priced, near-to-the-stage seats that I can find (with two seats together) are in Section E…specifically Row 11 Seats 39 & 41. They seem to be the furthest towards the middle in this section at the moment. Even after reading this very helpful post of yours, I can’t seem to find the confidence to just buy these tickets. Would you happen to know if these particular seats clear the Big Green Monster? ^_^

  9. JL says:

Got tickets for Barbara Striesand on 11/9, my seats are in section F3 seats 30 & 32, will I have a horrible view?

  10. Natasha says:

Hello, for the Garden Boxes, do the “rows” actually mean “box numbers”? I’m asking because when purchasing tickets from 3rd party vendors (Stubhub, Ebay, etc), some of the Garden Boxes are described as “Row 975″, or “Row 711″. I don’t see any “rows” on the seating map in the Garden Box section. Thanks so much!

    • admin says:

Natasha the tickets I have purchased are always marked by the box number. That is why most the maps do not show row numbers for the Garden and Terrace box sections. From what you are seeing maybe they are leaving out the “1″ in the Terrace section listings. To be 100% sure I would ask for the box number.
